Air pollution is an important challenge, but effective solutions depend on having reliable information about where and when pollution occurs. This project will help address gaps in air-quality information in Tajikistan by monitoring fine particulate matter (PM2.5) at the ground level over an 18-month period. Our team will operate air-quality monitors to collect detailed, continuous measurements and will make the resulting data openly available, as close to real time as possible. This will provide researchers, policymakers, organizations, and the public with valuable information about air-quality conditions. In addition to monitoring, the project aims to use the evidence generated to support greater awareness and contribute to national-level efforts toward cleaner air. By making high-quality air-quality information more accessible, we hope to strengthen the foundation for informed decisions and meaningful clean-air action in Tajikistan.

During this project, our team will to contribute to a clearer and more complete understanding of air quality in Tajikistan by generating reliable, locally relevant PM2.5 data. Over the 18-month project period, we aim to establish continuous ground-level monitoring, make the resulting information openly accessible, and support greater awareness of air-quality conditions. Beyond collecting data, we will to turn this evidence into meaningful action by engaging relevant stakeholders and contributing to national-level efforts to improve air quality. Ultimately, our goal is to help build a stronger foundation for informed decision-making, public awareness, and long-term clean-air solutions in Tajikistan.
