Zimbabwe National Geospatial and Space Agency

Our project will improve access to reliable information about the quality of the air people breathe. We will install air-quality monitoring devices in selected locations to measure fine particles in the air that can affect human health. The information collected will help communities, researchers and decision-makers better understand where and when air pollution is most serious. It will also help identify pollution sources and areas requiring urgent attention. We hope the project will raise public awareness of the health risks associated with polluted air and encourage practical actions to reduce exposure. By providing accurate, locally relevant information, the project will support better environmental planning, stronger air-quality standards and informed decision-making. Ultimately, we aim to contribute to cleaner air and improved health, particularly for communities that are most vulnerable to air pollution.

During the project, our team hopes to establish a reliable, accessible air-quality monitoring system that generates timely and locally relevant evidence on particulate pollution. By expanding monitoring coverage and strengthening data quality, we aim to provide communities, researchers and decision-makers with the information needed to understand pollution patterns, identify priority areas and take informed action. The project will also support the development and enforcement of improved environmental standards, while raising public awareness of air-quality risks. Ultimately, we hope our work will contribute to cleaner air, stronger environmental governance and better health outcomes, particularly for communities most vulnerable to air pollution.
